Jennifer Baumann lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley. She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and received her BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design, in New York City.
Working as a freelance photographer, Jennifer’s clients included the New York Times Magazine, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Prentice Hall, Sony Music, Atlantic Records, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Jennifer’s photographs have been included in juried, and group shows at A. Smith Gallery in Johnson City, TX (2021); Praxis Gallery in Minneapolis, MN (2021, 2020); Bortolami Gallery in New York (2020, 2019); Jadite Gallery in New York (2019); Plaxall Gallery in Long Island City (2019); Foley Gallery in New York (2018); Artsy in New York (2018); and Metro Pictures in New York (2017)
Perhaps as a reaction to growing up in the grittiness and chaos of 1970s New York City, the images Jennifer creates tend to have a quiet, calm, often lonely atmosphere.
