About Jim Spizzo

Born in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago and raised in the very scrappy town of Cicero, IL, Jim Spizzo now resides in the city. He has called the Chicago area home for much of his life.

Jim has been shooting photos since he was 8 or 9 years old. He has used a variety of cameras including, early-on, the ubiquitous Kodak Instamatic; then several 35mm film cameras, and now exclusively the Nikon Z 7, the Leica SL3 and Leica Q3M monochrom digital camera. Jim processes his own images, and does his printing on high quality, museum grade paper. All images are spontaneous and devoid of staging.

Over the past 8 years Jim has participated in ~ 20 juried photo exhibitions in Chicago; Springfield, IL, Jacksonville, IL; Wichita, Kansas; New Haven, CT; Bethlehem, PA; Greenville, S.C.; Brooklyn, NY; Hilton Head S.C.; Toronto, Canada.; Tucson, AZ; and Gilbert, AZ. Two exhibits (Charmers Cafe Chicago and Strawn Art Gallery in Jacksonville, IL) were solo shows.
