Joachim Hildebrand studied economic sciences (degrees: MBA and Ph.D.) and worked at the same time as a freelance photographer for press and photo agencies. Eventually he decided to focus on photography and studied at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid (Spain) where he took a master´s degree in Fine Art Photography. His teachers were among others Elger Esser, Joan Fontcuberta and Martin Parr). Joachim Hildebrand exhibited in Europe and Asia and has won a number of grants (for example an artist residency at the Huan Tie Times Art Museum, Beijing, China) and awards (for example at the European Architectural Photography Prize). He lives and works in Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Berlin (Germany) and Ellmau (Austria).
