I was initiated into photography in grade 5, when I was handed a box camera and a roll of film with which to document the family holiday. Despite the spectacularly unsuccessful results, my interest had been awakened. I went on to learn darkroom basics during high school and to document our family life intensively during my son's preschool years. The demands of family life and a career edged photography out. The gift of a digital camera upon my retirement reignited my interest in photography, which has since developed into a major absorption.
Photography provides a fascinating, non verbal means of exploring the world about, and a sequence is an ideal medium both for perceiving the world more clearly and for sharing these gleanings with others.
I am relatively isolated in terms of my personal work. This is my first entry into any form of competition and is hopefully the start of a wider engagement with other photographers.
