Jonathan L. Clark was self-taught in photography as a young teenager, later working with George Tice, Wynn Bullock, and Frederick Sommer. He is also an award-winning fine-press printer and publisher. Clark’s work has been shown three continents, and is held in many collections including the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris; Smithsonian Institution; Center for Creative Photography, Tucson; Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Ft. Worth; George Eastman House; The Art Museum, Princeton University; Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University; The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; University of California, Santa Cruz, among others. His most recent solo show was "Gulf Variations" at Smith Andersen North, San Anselmo CA, April-June 2018. Nazraeli Press published a book of his early images of Ottawa, Illinois, taken when he was 15 years old.
