Jonathan Grado (b. 1991) is a Brooklyn-born conceptual photographer and visual artist whose practice explores surrealism and cinematic storytelling. Grado’s work includes hand-altered printmaking and photographic visual experimentation.
For over a decade, the artist led the creative direction of Grado Labs, his family’s legacy audio company founded in 1953. He helped guide the brand into its seventh decade, modernizing its identity while preserving three generations of craftsmanship. Raised around analog equipment in a family of builders, he has developed an experimental practice grounded in appreciation for finer details, which shape imagery that feels dreamlike and at times fractured.
Grado received his BA in Interactive Design from Quinnipiac University. Most recently named a Homiens Art Prize, Highly Commended Artist of 2025. His photography and installations have been presented at Satellite Art Show (Austin, TX, 2025), in the group exhibition L’appartement 49C: Fragments in Our Home (New York, NY, 2025), and Black Box Gallery: Color: Photography Now (Portland, Oregon, 2025). He maintains his studio in Brooklyn, NY.
