About Juan Calle
The relationship of Juan with photography has two parts clearly defined by time. The first - fresh out of University in the United States where he studied photography – marks an active participation in numerous group exhibitions , Around 1980 he produces “ The Tenants " a series of exquisite dream – like mages made in - camera using Polaroid negative film . From that time some beautiful vintage prints remain in very good condition.
However, young Calle was more interested in business and innovation. Fascinated with the extraordinary projections performed with 20, 30 or more slide projectors synchronized by computers he had the opportunity to watch on his trips abroad, he focused on the task of assembling the system in Colombia . As a partner and creative director of Photografika , he gave free to his creativity for about 15 years; time under which he was responsible for producing a large number of pieces under the " Multimagen technique " name of that new and complicated slide projection system .
Since then, he has developed a more intimate and mature approach to photography that has combined with his creativity workshops and lectures, as well as a mentor for young photographers wishing to develop a more personal work. With clarity, vision and determination - and footprints that life has left - . Juan has achieved a solid work divided into several bodies of work. Without a doubt is the sum of many key experiences that have sprung up spontaneously in photo projects like "Water", “John and I”," Tales of the Rainforest" and “ Chronicles from surrealism" some of which have been exhibited in Colombia the United States, Canada and Europe.
Juan lives and works in Tabio, a small artist´s retreat nearby Bogotá.
