Judith Helmer (NL, 1982) is a photographer based in the Netherlands. She has been fascinated with personal stories and family dynamics from a young age. Stories that require you to take a closer look, in order to reveal that not everything is what it may look like at first sight. Identity, roots and family history are recurring themes in her photography. She loves the analogue process and prefers to shoot with her analog 6*6 camera.
Judith graduated from the Fotovakschool in 2017, and won the Keep an Eye Fotovakschool Award the same year. Her ongoing graduation project ‘Identically Different’ was subsequently published in one of the Dutch Newspapers ‘NRC’ and won an honorable mention at The International Photo Awards 2017. The project was and will be exhibited at several locations in France (Festival Circulation(s), Le Voyage à Nantes, TEAT Champ Fleuri's Gallery and Pluie d’Images Photo Festival) in 2018 and 2019. She has recently been selected as Dutch New Talent 2019 by GUP.
