I was initially attracted to photography in 2011 because I wanted to work directly with people, while creating art. Photography for me has always been about portraiture. However, my love and interest for art came before then. I was born in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. At a young age I loved to draw and paint. Always dabbling on the side in art, drawing and painting was my passion. I took classes in stained glass creation. By the time I’d finished post secondary, I was taking classes in jewelry arts and wanted to have my own jewelry making business. I had started to pursue silversmithing as a hobby but it was too solitary. When my children were born I picked up a camera. I started to pursue my MFA in photography part time at the Academy of Art University in June of 2012 and will convocate May of 2018. My work has often centered around children and families. When I started photography, I had two children under the age of 4. I still love to photograph and document their lives.
