Ju Bezerra de Mello is Brazilian and graduated in Social Communication. She has won awards and participated in several film festivals with her short documentary « Vanja, mulher Rendeira ». She worked as a video editor alongside Alex Topini, in particular on the Piratão project of the art collective « Filé de Peixe ». Ju began experimenting with photography during her university years and decided to dedicate herself fully to this medium. In 2011, she left Brazil and began in 2012 a Bachelor in Fine Arts Photography in Lyon.
In photography, her approach is primarily guided by her feelings and emotions, and favour a multidisciplinary approach. She doesn’t actually seek to go through a particular path, but sees the practice of photography as a « way of life or art where [her] mind [can] speak in unfettered freedom », paraphrasing James Joyce's definition of writing.
