I'm a writer and art historian with a long-standing interest in photography. In 2016 I began to work with a DSLR for the first time and rediscovered the merits of manual photography while enjoying the instant feedback of the view screen. This rekindled my interest in the medium, which had flagged after sixteen years with automatic digital cameras. While at times I’ve been successful in capturing evocative images of friends and family, for the most part my best work involves locations. When walking with the camera, I try to maintain a mode of relaxed alertness in which it will be easy to notice formal relationships among shapes, as well as the effects of natural and artificial light.
