Having gained my BA in Photography almost 20 years ago my career tailed off as family life took over. I recently fulfilled a long standing ambition of studying MA Fine Art Photography (2016 - 2017).
My interest in psychology, feminism and fine art have been critical influences in my project. I believe there are many photographers, like myself, who pick up the camera because they wish to avoid being in the picture. This issue of identity should be explored.
I hope to be able to empower women by encouraging them to look at their self portrait and family photographs to unlock psychological restraints through an educated and controlled environment. Understanding that others have unresolved issues can clarify their behaviour and can change blame and frustration into compassion and sympathy.
