Kerstin made her first pictures at the age of 12, when she received from her father her first mirror-reflex-camera, type Exa 1a. Then came an Exakta Varex, a Praktisix and after the high school a "Pentacon six".
The sensitivity for the scenes has always a top priority for her. "I let myself drift slowly". Her desire for images comes usually spontaneous from observation.
Because Kerstin is working as a historian there are always topics of contemporary history around Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, Stutthof, where she has been working in her spare time for many years.
"I always try to transport in my photos what I feel, to translate my thoughts into the language of the picture, creating very quiet images of places which have influenced me in my photographic work and have become very important to me today." The important thing for Kerstin is that the pictures have soul.
