I am a commercial and fine art photographer working in Toronto.
After graduating from The Colorado Institute of Art in 1994, a trip to visit family in the Netherlands led me to the realization that my work, like my Canadian heritage, had roots in both countries. Throughout my photography practice, I have explored this and attempted to reconcile the two cultures, visually positioning myself within this larger context and working
with themes of location, environment, and belonging. In August of 2001, I participated in The Noorderlicht Photofestival in The Netherlands, with a landscape series taken in both Canada and Holland. I now live in Toronto with my husband and three boys, and have of late been exhibiting a series called “The Kitchen Window”. The series is named after the window I use to light my still life images; in this way my daily life and artistic practice have become intertwined. Various images in this series have been shown in galleries internationally.
