László Mészáros´s work has interwoven every photographic gender during his 30-year career, ranging from the subject photo, portrait, advertising, fashion, travel and report photography, to his own artistic series. Intuitive visions, the ’amateur purity’ and professional consciousness are combined in his large-format artworks.
The Budapest-based artist started his career at MTI (Hungarian News Agency) where he learned the basics of studio photography. He opened his own studio back in 1989. He held courses at local universities such as MOME, worked at Karnak excavation (1998) and Gurna excavation (1999) in Egypt and at an anthropological expedition in Pakistan (2001) where he shot his Kalash photo series about a hidden tribe in the Hindu Kush Mountains. In 2007 with author András Gyurcsek he created a book that that takes place in Italy. He’s been taking part in exhibitions in the past 10 years. His artworks were exhibited in Hungary, Italy, France, USA, Austria, Romania and Greece.
