Laura Konttinen (b. 1987) is a Finnish photographer who combines photography with collage and installation. The core focus of her work is the materiality of the photograph: the richness, the fragility and the surreal layers that are revealed when the photograph is taken apart.
Cutting, pasting and crafting by hand is an integral part of Konttinen's work. Instead of digital aftereffects, she plays analogue tricks on the camera through surreal scenesetting and carefully considered arrangements.
Laura Konttinen's work has been featured in several exhibitions and photo festivals in Finland and abroad, most recently at Capa Centre, Budapest 2019 and The Finnish Museum of Photography in 2018. In 2018 she was selected as one of the emerging artists for Parallel Platform's 2nd cycle. Konttinen graduated with an MA degree in Photography from Aalto University, Helsinki in 2020.
