My name is Laurent Hou and I am a French photographer born in 1986 who lived in China from 2011 to July 2017. I just moved to Casablanca, Morocco.
I am interested in the way China modernized and how the country is affected by globalization.
Lots of people around me aim at taking pictures of "eternal China". I prefer focusing on the changes happening in the country.
I am a contributor to Eyes on China project on instagram @eyesonchinaproject.
As I am living in Beijing, my work is mostly about this city. I hope to publish a photography book about contemporary Beijing.
Although "street photography" (in a very broad way) has become my main passion, I also shoot other types of photography: art projects, art performances, portraits, events, sometimes even a bit of fashion.
I use Instagram to post some of my street shots but I only post casual shots as I would like to wait and edit my long-term projects' pictures together (I also think it is better if the project is "fresh" when it comes out).
