Laurie lives and works in New England, in a small seaside town north of Boston. Her fine art works range from landscape, to botanical, to the photojournalistic storytelling of her childrens’ daily lives. In 2018, she participated in A. Smith Gallery’s juried exhibition “portraits” in Johnson City, Texas. In 2017, she participated in two Blank Wall Gallery juried exhibitions in Athens, Greece. Her limited edition digital silver print “Warren’s Barn” was displayed in the Blank Wall Gallery’s 2017 juried “black and white portraits” exhibition and her limited edition digital silver print “The Sled” was displayed in the gallery’s 2017 People and Winter exhibition.
With extensive experience as an editorial shooter, Laurie Swope has also been a contributor to the Boston Globe for over ten years and her award winning work has additionally appeared in the Globe Magazine, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, Boston Common Magazine, and other editorial, corporate and commercial publications.
Laurie’s portraits have been recognized with first place awards in the Southern and Northern Short Course contests of the National Press Photographers Association, as well as the Boston Press Photographers Association. They have been featured in Time-Life Books, the America 24/7 book project, and in various corporate and commercial outlets. Her warm and character driven head shots are featured in various college and corporate materials. Her stock is represented by Aurora Photos in Portland, Maine.
