From the beginning, light, color and form have played a significant role in Leigh Beisch’s life. After a childhood in a creative and peripatetic family (from New York City to London, Northern California and New England) she studied painting and photography at the Rhode Island School of Design and at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Beisch’s gift for visual language—deeply affected by early exposure to stacks of literary and fashion magazines, as well as family friends who were prominent photographers and writers—has continued to be shaped by her environment. She lives in Marin County and San Francisco with her husband Dana and daughter Eva, where she has built a successful commercial practice. Her work continues to be affected by her belief on the power of beauty to effect meaningful change.
