Lígia Francisco is a Brazilian photographic artist based in Austin.
Immigrating has slowed my eyes movement and made me look more attentive to my surrounds. When I first moved to Argentina, I took her parents camera simply aiming to share my experience abroad but ended up registering ordinary details that made part of life and that were shaping my identity.
Since then, I have lived in many countries like France and the US and I have been using the camera to interpret daily life in a poetic way, as a language.
Living between new languages and cultures has shown me photography as a powerful way to express and build who i am.
