Lily Madeleine Colman is a film-based photographer from Philadelphia, now living and working in Providence, RI. She considers her portrait work to be a combination of documentary and fine-art portraiture.
Lily has just completed her Masters degree in Photography from Rhode Island School of Design (May 2020). She earned her BA in Fine Art Portrait Photography and Curatorial Studies in May, 2013, from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA.
Before starting her masters program, she worked as a Photography Assistant at David Zwirner Gallery in New York. Previously, she worked as a Teaching Assistant at the International Center of Photography School.
Lily has previously worked on an interview and portrait series dealing with chronic illnesses: specifically Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis). She has also started work on a family history project, starting with interviews and portraits of relatives in Israel.
