Lorenzo Triburgo is a native New Yorker who currently resides in Portland, Oregon. He holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts in Photography and Related Media and a BA from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Studies in Photography and Gender Studies.
Triburgo has showcased several bodies of work, most recently his series, Transportraits. In this series, Triburgo examines identity and representation through the creation of landscape oil paintings as backdrops for photographic portraits of transgender men, captured on medium-format film.
Triburgo has exhibited in major cities including New York, Seattle, Philadelphia, LA and Amsterdam. He has work in the permanent collection at the Portland Art Museum, has been awarded the Aaron Siskind Grant and has been written about in various web and print journals including The Fine Art Issue of PDN and The Huffington Post.
His forthcoming project, working with Corrections Officers in small town jails, has recently been awarded a project grant from Portland's Regional Arts and Culture Council.
