Every day, we are bombarded—with sound that becomes noise, images that become mere backdrop as we hurry by to get on with our days. As a teen, I discovered my passion for sifting through the overwhelming flotilla of stimuli to find the stillness of one moment, the truth in someone’s eyes (what they want to say about themselves without uttering a word). My aim for my photographs is that they capture the unexpected and the unusual—in both moments in time and detail—that speak to me, anchor me and help shape the world as I experience it. My propensity is to focus on what others may overlook or dismiss; this to me is what makes something or someone interesting, and I work to put it front and center. I believe that what’s unique and unconventional help bring us to life. This belief has been a constant inspiration for me to seek, portray and elevate the unusual beauty that I find everywhere.
