The contrast between the world around me and in me;
Thoughts, feelings, dreams and memories
are volatile, corrosive and illusive.
Still decisions are based on those for the future
and thus, discrepancies arise
between the world in your head
and what life will do to it.
Photographs are treasured as memories
and I include the dimensions of life
by adding physical, material layers.
The physical photograph is dearer to me than a digital image
which can be made into whatever you want.
Nowadays with all the benefits of digital imaging
it’s possible to make exactly what you want.
For me that’s a downside,
I can’t do that in real life.
So I work with my own varieties of emulsion lifts
with which I lose complete control over
how it will behave as I merge it with my medium.
I have to be quick just
as with some of my decisions in life
and when I hesitate it will crumble
and fall apart.
