A Klamath Falls native, Madeleine Graham Blake received from her father her first camera when she was nine. He also imbued in her a love of travel. Although she has a fine arts degree in photography, she became an exhibition designer at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco where she worked closely with the anthropology department. This stirred in her a fascination with cultures and with the differences and similarities that manifest in communities. She then began a lifelong photographic exploration of what it means to be human... which ultimately led her to India, the Grand Canyon of humanity.
