Born in 1959, Malcolm is an architect with a passion for photography. As a student studying architecture he was drawn to the black and white street photography in Paris and New York City from the 30's-60's in particular the photographs of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sophie Calle, Raymond Depardon, and Robert Doiseau. While studying photography at the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Ryerson School of Image Arts, he became interested in the black and white fashion/portraits/nude photographs of Richard Avedon, David Bailey, Herb Ritts, Lillian Bassman, Peter Lindbergh, and Irvin Penn from the 60's, and 70's. Malcolm was a finalist and 3rd place winner in the TZ International Photography Community’s Black & White Zebra Awards ( 2012 , 2014, & 2015 ), awards of merit from the Photographer’s Forum Magazine Photography Awards (2013 & 2014 ), and awards of merit from the International Photo Awards ( 2014 & 2015 ) . His images have been featured in Black & White Magazine’s Portfolio Awards issues in August 2013, 2015 & 2016, and Black & White Magazines Single Image Awards issues in February 2014 , 2015, 2016 & 2017.
