I met Marcelo Spatafora in the first year of college. He was a good-natured and popular fellow, whom we called Captain. Let me explain: he then worked for the airline Varig. However it was not flying machines that were the object of his command, far from it. Rather it was 35 mm cameras; and later several other formats such as 6 x 6. Back in college, Spata - a nickname that caught on even more than Captain - clicked with immense pleasure and competence. His passion for photography was paralleled only by two others: the Beatles and coffee, the first being a great import and the second a valuable export. This was already an indication, in his personal life, of the immense versatility of this photographer who performs very well in several areas of the metier.
We became even closer friends when we worked together on the same magazine. Since then, I have been able to watch closely how Spata is not one, but several Spatas. Should you be looking for photos for advertising ..... he's your man. And he's an ace in the studio, from a snapshot of a cup of coffee to a still and even cars. Photos with artificial light are a specialty of this Beatlemaniac, who specialised in home fashion when working in one of the biggest studios in Milan. But he is also excellent when using natural light, as I was able to verify on location in various reports we did together for travel magazines; whether in Italy, Spain, Mexico, Hawaii ....... or wherever he went.
