Maren Preiß is a self-taught photographer and writer based in Hamburg, Germany. She progressed beyond journalism to embrace the fields of photography and filmmaking.
With a Master’s degree in History and Italian Literature, and as a graduate of the Masterschool Dokumentarfilm she introduces elements of history, anthropology and sociology into her documentary work. In 2021 she attended the Photographic Storyteller Course of the Spanish documentary photographer Sebastián Liste. Choosing topics which generally take her away from the noise of today’s media, she is devoted to slow journalism and long-term projects.
