Marguerite Moon is a photographer and lecturer based in Cape Town, South Africa. She works mainly with and within photography. Life as a solo parent with two daughters often (but not exclusively) informs her work.
Moon holds a Master of Fine Art degree (Cum Laude) from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town.
She has participated in various exhibitions. She currently has an artwork on display at Zeitz MOCAA in the Home is Where the Art Is exhibition in Cape Town. She has exhibited at AVA Gallery in 2018/2019, the Art Africa Fair in 2017 and she was a Sasol New Signatures Competition finalist in 2013 and 2016. She was nominated for the Tierney Fellowship in 2014 and 2015. Moon was selected by the Palestine Museum in Cape Town as one of six South African artists to participate in a residency in Palestine during June 2015.
She often traverses the space between mothering, mother-being and making art. She draws from her lived experience as a mother and a woman to make work about women predominantly.
