About Maria Semmer

Maria Semmer was born in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany. She studied Communication Design at Georg Simon Ohm University in Nuremberg, with study stays in Berlin and St. Petersburg. After graduating, she lived for several years in Rome, where she further developed her artistic practice.
At the center of her practice are dreams, transitional states, and a connection to nature. Working primarily with staged photography, she explores figures in natural environments or abandoned places. Through gesture, color, and symbolism, she creates images that evoke narrative and atmosphere.
Her works have been exhibited internationally in galleries and museums and published in art magazines and photography books. Maria Semmer lives and works in the region of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
