I’m not a photographer. I carry a camera. I expose film and sensors. The camera exposes me. I shoot lines: they lead in, and out, and sometimes intersect to focus attention. Ridge lines and shadow, water courses and horizon, natural and architectural elements, the road, the climbing rope, the direction of a subject’s look and travel … I might say abandonment explains why subjects walk away or towards me but that’s just pop-psych BS because all human movement is either towards or away from the individual. And sometimes it’s me moving away.
