Marco Waldis, born in Milan in 1987, is an Italian photographer and videomaker who dedicates himself primarily to long-term documentary projects that explore the social, political, and cultural complexities of territories in transition. His work combines in-depth research and immersion in local contexts, producing visual narratives that challenge conventional perceptions.
His work is distinguished by the interconnection between photography and moving images, alternating between analog and digital techniques based on narrative needs and the documented context.
Among his most significant projects is "Nation Abkhazia," in which he documents the reality of an unrecognized state in the Caucasus, exploring questions of identity and self-determination in a contested territory. With "Entangled," also published in the academic journal “Art Innovation Journal”, he presents an innovative exploration of possible connections between quantum mechanics and artistic practices, particularly through analyzing similarities between the concept of quantum entanglement and relational dynamics in documentary photography.
His works have been exhibited in group shows, published in specialized magazines, and presented in international contexts.
