I am trained as a biologist and researcher and worked in this field for several years. But after my second child was born, I started to explore the field of photography. I had been experimenting with Photoshop for several years and I started to combine pre-existing photos and sculp them into new images. At first I used new and pre-existing images of my own children to make new images, but later also other children featured in my images.
I started with pictures of my own children and wanted to make something to celebrate my love for them, to display their inner strength. But along the way the images became more about questions like; what it is to be your pure authentic self, can we find this within ourselves, or is it only in reflection of others that we can become aware of all our complex feelings and emotions which make us who we are? And how can we become true to ourselves within this complexity of social interaction?
