Unearthed Landscapes grew out of my overall approach to photography. I find that compelling images abound, waiting to be discovered, often in very unlikely places. If something arrests me, I work to understand why, and then capture this core. I often compose my photographs using unusual subjects, ways of seeing, or vantage points, revealing something singular that could be overlooked or taken for granted. This series fits both into my traditional landscape work, as well as my impressionistic and abstract work, conveying a scene's essence or emotion, rather than literal reality.
