Matthew Schiavello (b.1972) is a Melbourne/Naarm born photographer and visual artist. He works in various styles, from abstract, to the more representational, and self-portrait work. Matthew often works from a place of engaged curiosity. With his experimental work, he is often looking for the unique moment where skilled technique meets the more uncontrollable aspects of the process, creating beauty.
Matthew has been a finalist in several art awards. Most recently in the Midsumma and Australia Post Art Award (2024) and in the Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize (2023). Matthew’s works are in several private collections in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and in the United States of America.
