Matthieu was born in Auxerre in 1976. Brought up in the expatriate lifestyle, he spent his childhood in the Middle East, Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
When he returned to France in 1989, he completed a traditional education. Upon graduating with a degree in communication and marketing, he started his career in media which evolved into advertising.
It was in 2009, when almost by accident, he discovered photography. He was encouraged by Hervé, an art director, colleague and friend. He soon developed a keen interest in the human subject. Initially, his colleagues were the source of inspiration, but it was during his travels that he flourished.
In 2011 he staged his first exhibition “Les terres de l'essentiel" in Paris, sharing his African adventure after an immersed stay in a village in Burkina Faso.
A milestone was reached in 2014 when MAGALI FILMS offered him the opportunity to work as a photographer on the set of a commercial for GOOGLE. A successful experience that reinforced his career conversion to photography.
With more and more travel opportunities and his photographic experience growing, upon his return from his latest trip to Asia, Matthieu decided to fully devote his life to photography.
Today Matthieu is a photographer based in Paris exploring the field of human photography. He is developing his work in portraits, documentary and on-set photography. Most of his personal projects concentrate on different people from across the world, with the desire to capture the raw and authentic beauty of humanity.
