Maurice Gunning, documentary film-maker and photographer. Most recently, Maurice has completed shooting a human rights documentary, ‘As Human As I Am’, filmed in Fiji, Nepal & Malawi. He was awarded the Arts & Human Rights Prize in photography from the Irish Centre for Human Rights, in relation to his work in Romania with the NGO, Hope and Homes for Children. Maurice has worked as director of photography on ‘Power in Or Pockets’, commissioned by the Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance. In 2017, he directed ‘Sekar Arum’, filmed in Indonesia, which has featured widely in international film festivals. Previous documentaries also include, ’The Chile 33’, filmed on location at the Copiapo mine, Chile. Maurice is currently the Photographer in Residence at the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick, and his work has been supported by the Arts Council, the Heritage Council and Culture Ireland.
