Michael Novotny is a self-taught photographer from Prague, Czech republic where he graduated from the Czech University of Life Sciences in 2013 receiving a Master degree in Landscape Architecture. He has always been strongly influenced by the nature and even more after the environmental studies what is reflected in his work.
Living half-nomadic life Michael spent year 2015 in Iceland, 2016 in Swiss Alps and now he is back settled in Iceland and travels whenever it is possible. He visited more than 40 countries in last couple of years. Using only analogue techninque over the years he has developed unique style and during his travels he captures the worldwide landscape and its inhabitants in its rawness with a dreamy and mysterious touch.
In his recent works he is shifting attention to a socio-environmental storytelling document. He is especially focused in a remote naturally living cultures, their environment and every day lives. While our western society grow megacities, live in everyday haste and consumerism has dominated us – there are still almost unspoiled communities, which stick firmly to its roots.
