I am an Emmy-Award winning documentary filmmaker (PBS The Teenage Brain: A World of Their Own), more recently a still photographer, and a writer. I picked up my first serious camera in February 2017. Since then I’ve become captivated by how photography helps focus my attention and sharpen my perception. I have a voracious curiosity, and it has been fascinating to watch how I’ve chosen to represent the world within the confines the frame; and the potential those frames hold to tell their own story. It has been a journey of exploration and discovery, and continually placing myself in new situations to which I am forced to respond photographically. Of course I’ve been composing and editing visual images all along in my documentary films, but this is different, more intimate, more immediate, and it allows me a more personal voice.
