Michael Sheehan was born in Ireland but has lived and worked in Florida for the last 30 years. As a practicing psychiatrist, he is a longtime student of human perceptions, emotions, reactions and conditions.
Classical art and painting has been a huge influence on his choice of subjects, compositions, lighting and color palettes. He serves as Founding Board member of the Tampa Bay Society of Photographic Art, and as Docent at the Florida Museum of Photographic Art.
His main photographic work has been as a portraitist with a special interest in environmental portraits. He attempts to portray his subjects with humanity, power, love and dignity, in harmony with their environment.
