As an avid climber and outdoorsman living in the big city, my photography often investigates the overlap between the man-made and natural worlds. I am fascinated by the effect nature and wilderness have on the human mind, which in my experience can provide an indispensable medicine of curiosity, healing and wonder. My fear is that our natural environments are becoming increasingly divorced from our societies, both by the relentless push of civilization to manipulate, pollute and abuse the natural world, and by the minimal contact modern man often has with wild areas. I hope that my work can help people reconnect with nature, wherever they may find it, in order to cultivate a healthy and more conscious relationship with our environment, which I believe is critical for our future survival on this planet.
