I studied Film and Sinology at the University of Zurich and relocated to China in 2003. While many times exhausting, China with its vibrancy and cultural gaps inspired and pushed me to find new angles in my work, motivating me on my quest to create compelling visual stories. In my personal work, I am a dedicated analogue photographer drawn to the contrasting elements of our dystopian world, anti-heroes in unlikely places, social studies and the beauty of remote nature. In my portrait work I use mainly natural light. I follow a strict one-shot approach, I carefully craft my frame, explore light, angles and then only ever shoot one single picture of every situation I encounter.
