Morteza is an Iranian conceptual artist, photographer, and researcher working at the intersection of photography, architecture, and philosophy. His practice investigates space, memory, solitude, and the phenomenology of place through staged and atmospheric imagery, engaging with the relationship between environment, perception, and inner experience.
Rooted in architectural thinking and informed by literature, mysticism, and visual culture, his work draws connections between Iranian and Islamic philosophical traditions and Western thought. Through photography, he explores thresholds between presence and absence, the visible and the invisible, the material and the metaphysical.
Morteza holds a BA in Architecture and an MA in Dramatic Literature, and is currently a PhD candidate in the Wisdom of Religious Arts. Alongside his artistic practice, he conducts interdisciplinary research in visual culture, philosophy, and comparative aesthetics.
His work has received international recognition, including Editors’ Selection in the LensCulture Art Photography Award 2021, exhibitions at Art Room Gallery (2021), and features on Der Greif, including Guest Room curated by Lucy Soutter (2021), Past & Present (2023), and Guest Room: Shifting Thresholds (2026), curated by Auronda Scalera and Alfredo Cramerotti. His work has also been recognized in PORTRAITS – HELLERAU PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD 2026.
He is a member of the Iranian Photographers Society.
