Mysa is a Swedish word, with many resonances. It is mostly untranslatable. It is perhaps mostly related to the English word "cozy," but it also echoes the idea of "making oneself comfortable."
Mysa aims at creating images that aim at this initial sense of coziness and comfort that welcome the viewer to sit down and "make oneself comfortable" with the light, color, composition and subject matter. Once this comfort is achieved the question becomes how long to stay and whether a certain discomfort begins to take over that, in fact, was what the drew the viewer in at the beginning.
Mysa works in New Orleans, Louisiana and Venice, Italy for particular and similar reasons, with similar strong initial draws for the traveler, one would hardly notice that both places are threatened by the two things that keep them afloat--tourism and water.
