Naomi Soto is a Peruvian-American photographer whose work emerges from self-observation and her relationship with her environment, exploring identity, memory, and perception. Following her intuition, inspired by her poems, she moves seamlessly between staged and candid photography, seeking answers to the questions her work raises. Her images invite viewers to participate in their own act of looking.
Naomi’s photographs have appeared in group shows at FotoFest, Mexico’s Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART), the Griffin Museum of Photography, Peru’s Centro Cultural Casa Blanca, the Arlington Center for the Arts, and the Photographic Resource Center. Her work is part of Femgrafia’s photobook, Index: Liberando el Archivo, which brings together 60 female photographers from Latin America and Spain. Recently, she was included in Ephemere’s photobook, Color of Noise, which features 100 artists as they interpret color at the edges of perception. Her images have also been featured in online platforms that highlight women in fine art and street photography.
Naomi was selected for Femgrafia’s inaugural online residency in 2022 and is now included in its Index of Photographers. She subsequently completed the Specialization Program in Photographic Language at the Centro de la Imagen de Lima. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Boston University.
