About Nick Hannes

After graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (Belgium) in 1997, I worked ten years as a photojournalist, realizing reportages in the Balkans and the Middle East. In 2006 I decided to fully concentrate on long-term documentary projects. I published 3 books: ‘Red Journey’, about transition in the former Soviet Union (2009). 'Traditions', about traditions in Belgium (2011). 'Mediterranean. The Continuity of Man’, about tourism, migration and crisis in the Mediterranean region.
I teach photography at The School of Arts in Ghent. I exhibited in FotoMuseum (Antwerp), Bozar Centre for Fine Arts (Brussels), Thessaloniki Biennale for Contemporary Art (GR), Flanders Center (Osaka), Breda Photo (Breda) amongst others.
