My name is Nick Burkhalter. I'm currently serving active duty in the United States Air Force and living with my Japanese wife in a small apartment in Bossier City, Louisiana.
For my 27th birthday, my father-in-law, an avid camera collector, gave me my first DSLR (a Canon x7i Kiss) and I've been hooked on photography ever since. For me, photography is an adventure that goes beyond taking pictures. Ever since I pressed the shutter button for the first time, I've strived to improve my technique. A few Google searches led me to Henri Cartier-Bresson, William Klein, Vivian Maier, Martin Parr, and countless other standard bearers that have kept me mesmerized and motivated to reach their levels of expertise.
I don't consider myself a professional photographer, nor do I really consider myself a photographer because I believe that is a title reserved for only the best. So until I can reach that level, I'm more than thrilled to call myself simply an enthusiast!
