Norm Diamond is a fine art photographer who delves into themes of memory and loss. His first book, "What Is Left Behind — Stories from Estate Sales," examines the poignant, ironic, and sometimes humorous objects that one generation leaves for the next. His second book, "Doug's Gym: The Last of Its Kind," chronicles the last six months of a decrepit old gym in downtown Dallas that was owned for 55 years by one man, Doug Eidd, 87-years-old at the time. Doug and his gym came from a bygone era, yet his members were mostly young people who valued his expert training. These two projects resulted in four solo shows and multiple images in group shows over the past five years. An ongoing project, "Dark Windows," explores disconnection and aloneness. Now, in "Uses for Old Newspapers," Diamond is probing the effects on us, the living, after the loss of so many during the pandemic.
