Nyani Quarmyne's work centers on global health, the environment, social justice and the humanness we share. His commissions range from documenting famine in the Sahel, to grassroots connectivity efforts in Kyrgyzstan, to CSR projects for global brands. His personal work includes the global snakebite emergency, climate change, and an exploration of the lives of a cloister of nuns in an abandoned valley in the Caucasus mountains.
Over the course of 2020-21 his primary focus is ‘Tree Palaver’, a multi-country project that considers how we might re-conceive our relationships with trees for the benefit not just of the climate and the planet, but for humanity’s own mental, physical, social and economic wellbeing.
Multi-ethnic and with a life spanning five continents, Nyani is in many ways most at home on the move. He is represented by Panos Pictures and works around the world from a base in Germany.
