About Orvis St John

My First camera was a young boy of 6 or sevens solution to not having a real camera. It was made by forming my fingers into a rectangle and making a clicking sound with my mouth. I was born in New York and as a young boy would walk around taking make-believe photos photos that eventually faded with memory. It was my first love. I loved and still love candid street photography. I love working with people as my subjects, catching their stories. Other interests of mine lie in creating fashion editorial stories. Another interest is in Photo-Art, which I started doing during Covid lock-down. In person portrait work was severely impacted by the global pandemic. People were quarantined behind the walls of the buildings they lived in. So I started taking architectural photos I had taken in the past, and through composite and manipulations I used these images to create unique portraiture. I just returned from a raw material gathering trip to NYC and Miami so that I may continue the series I titled "Building Portraits of City People" At the end of the day, when all is said and done, regardless of notoriety, if I leave a small contribution to Art and the History of humanity behind, I did not waste the life given to me.
